From the IBN SINA TRUST to IBN SINA Nursing Institute

Guided by the philosophy ‘To serve humanity is to serve Almighty’ the IBN SINA TRUST was established on 30th June 1980, under the competent leadership group of dedicated trustees. At the beginning its steps were definitely small but the vision was so broad and its people had the missionary feeling in the core of their hearts. We had the belief that a thousand kilometer journey starts through a single step. Alhamdulillah this organization was able to bring breakthrough in healthcare sector of Bangladesh. Over the last three decades it has built a number of hospitals, laboratories, consultation centers, pharmaceutical industry, Medical College and Nursing Institute. All its profit is dedicated for the purpose to serve humanity. Millions of people are being benefited from its benevolence. Its efforts are not only concentrated in posh areas of Dhaka, it is for humanity irrespective of rich or poor, cast and creed, religion or ethnicity. Its service is extended even in the most remote area of Bangladesh in Longdu upazilla of Rangamati hill district. There a big number of tribal people are getting modern healthcare facility. The trust was named after the great physician and specialist ‘Abu Ali Hussain Ibn Sina’ popularly known as ‘Avicina or Ibn sina’. His book ‘Al-Qanun fit-Tibb’ was regarded as the Bible of physicians for about 800 years.

After having an experience of building different healthcare provider organizations, its trustee board felt the necessity to establish a Nursing Institute to produce good quality Nurses with highest grade of professional quality blended with humane morality. As a part of this Endeavour, Ibn Sina Nursing Institute starts its journey from the 1st July 2010 with 50 students. Now already eight batches of Ibn Sina Nursing Institute are on their service in different Govt. & non Govt. reputed hospitals.

Mission

Ibn Sina Nursing Institute is established with a view to train the specially selected high quality nursing candidates to be called 'Nursing students' for three academic years. They will follow the nursing course according to the syllabus laid down by Bangladesh Nursing & Midwifery Council (BNMC) formulated for Diploma in Nursing Science & Midwifery course. Ibn Sina Nursing Institute is committed to create a cadre of high quality nurses both by nursing knowledge and high moral values, dedicated for suffering human physically and psychologically in the nation and others across the geographical boundaries.

Objectives

a. To teach that we the human species are ‘Ashraful mak-lu-kat’ created to live in the community with harmony and for each other with tender caring.
b. To teach bio-chemical sciences traditionally required for nursing students to meet the responsibilities of providing as well as curative health care to the people of Bangladesh.
c. To produce religiously well disciplined, self motivated and dedicated nurses imbued with the spirit of devotion to responsibility to human, duty, kindness, tolerance, patience and compassion.
d. To instill a wide knowledge of the social and economic condition of Bangladesh with a view to imbuing in them the belief, value and ideas of the nation.
e. To inspire development of essential characters, qualities, strong sense of righteousness and basic desire to serve the suffering humanities at both home and abroad.

Capability

a. Presently the institute is training 90 students in 9th batch, 100 students in 10th batch and 110 students from 11th batch.
b. Capable to run 150 students academic activities in each batch.
c. Building-up the desire amongst the passed out nurses to prosecute further studies leading to specialization in future.

Location

Ibn Sina Nursing Institute is located at 1/1-B, Kallyanpur, Dhaka-1216, Bangladesh. The 14th floor (13th floor of Lift) of the academic building of Ibn Sina Medical College is housing for Ibn Sina Nursing Institute. From 1st floor to floor 6th, there is a 250 bedded academic hospital. Another 596 bedded specialized hospital has already started its functions in the institute campus. A dedicated 250 bedded academic block will be there with all advanced medical education and treatment facilities.
